Henkel Aims to Achieve Net-Zero Emissions by 2045

Henkel is accelerating its sustainability efforts as it works toward achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. The company aims to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030, compared to the 2021 base year.

Henkel is accelerating sustainability efforts to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045. The company aims to reduce Absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% and Scope 3 emissions by 30% by 2030, compared to the 2021 baseline year.

Henkel's new sustainability targets stand out as part of the company's long-term transformation strategy to reduce environmental impact across its value chain. Climate-focused initiatives, circular economy approach, and equity-based human resources policies form the company's comprehensive sustainability vision.

"WE ARE PURSUING OUR RESPONSIBLE GROWTH STRATEGY WITH DETERMINATION"
Henkel CEO Carsten Knobel made the following remarks regarding the company's sustainability approach:

"For over 150 years, Henkel has demonstrated that responsible business practices can advance alongside strong performance. In today's changing conditions, it is more important than ever to take a clear and consistent stance toward a sustainable future. In line with our purpose-driven growth strategy, we are moving to the next level with our new and more ambitious sustainability targets."

CONCRETE STEPS IN THE NET ZERO ROADMAP
Within its 2045 net zero target, Henkel established a comprehensive roadmap approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2024.

The company aims to increase energy efficiency, expand the use of renewable energy, and accelerate the transition to more sustainable fuel alternatives.

Henkel achieved a 29% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 2025 compared to the 2021 baseline year. The company also transitioned to carbon-neutral production at 37 facilities worldwide and reached 97% renewable electricity use across global operations.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND PACKAGING TARGETS
Henkel is strengthening its packaging sustainability targets within its circular economy approach.

By 2030, the company aims to increase the use of recycled materials in product packaging from the current 28% to at least 35%. During the same period, all packaging is planned to be designed 100% recyclable. This figure currently stands at 88%.

SOCIAL EQUITY AND INCLUSIVE BUSINESS MODEL
Henkel supports another important pillar of its sustainability strategy with targets in social impact and equity.

By 2030, the company aims to achieve representation of both genders above 45% at management levels. As of 2025, the share of women in management rose above 43%, marking significant progress.

Henkel also aims to achieve wage equality on a global scale by 2030. These efforts are conducted in compliance with local regulations and adapted to regional conditions.

STRATEGY VALIDATED BY INTERNATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Henkel's sustainability progress is also confirmed by international rating organizations. The company received an "A" rating for the first time in the 2025 CDP Climate Assessment.

Additionally, it was awarded the Gold Medal in the EcoVadis assessment by improving its performance.
