Sustainability Summit for the Future The increasing negative impacts of the global climate crisis, new risks and concerns arising from the pandemic make sustainable business transformation more important than ever. As climate change mitigation policies accelerate worldwide, their implications for Turkey—reflected in the Climate Change Action Plan and the European Green Deal—make green transformation inevitable. In this era of change, those who can successfully manage a just transition will be able to prepare their businesses for the future and the new economy. In this context, EGİAD Ege Young Businesspeople Association, which has gained momentum from Izmir over the past two years and attracted attention, will hold a full-day summit under the title Sustainability for the Future on 16 November under the principal sponsorship of CK Architecture interiors. The summit will bring together the business world, digitalization and societal transformation with the participation of all competent figures. The summit, which will take place at İZQ, will bring to the podium important stakeholders from all sectors to present strategies, investments, innovations and collaborations that drive transformation. In an evaluation prior to the summit, EGİAD President Alp Avni Yelkenbiçer stated that they have been preparing for the event for nearly a year and attach great importance to this summit and its outcomes, saying: "Leaders of global and local business, experts in sustainable growth, entrepreneurs, private sector representatives, public sector, civil society organizations, academia and youth will evaluate in detail global approaches and concrete steps for a successful transition in this era of change under the theme 'Sustainability for the Future'. For approximately two years, EGİAD has been conducting work on a variety of scales and across a broad spectrum to increase the knowledge and awareness of its members and stakeholders on the topics of "Sustainability" and "Digitalization". The Sustainability for the Future Summit is expected to attract approximately 250 physical participants and nearly 1,000 online participants. The summit will focus on carbon border adjustment, energy transition, circular economy, innovation, sustainable finance, green funds and governance. Highlighting that all living species face the threat of extinction due to the climate crisis, the summit will emphasize how urgent and important sustainable transformation is across all sectors in light of the latest regulations, green business transformation roadmaps, and new risks and concerns, said Yelkenbiçer. Yelkenbiçer also highlighted that the summit will feature the launch of the Izmir Entrepreneurship Index Report and will spotlight the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Izmir, stating: "With the EGİAD Think tank report prepared by Turkey Report Director Can Selçuki, we will provide a new perspective on the entrepreneurship ecosystem, which we have emphasized for many years."
