Eti Bakır Boosts Integrated Production and Sustainability Strength in 2025

Eti Bakır, which positions domestic production as a strategic responsibility, stood out in 2025 with investments strengthening its integrated production structure and sustainability-focused practices. As part of this effort, the company commissioned a new fertilizer plant in Samsun while carrying out planned revisions at its facilities. Eti Bakır, which also successfully achieved 1 million tons of cathode copper production, published its first sustainability report.
Positioning domestic production as a strategic responsibility, Eti Bakır stood out in 2025 with investments strengthening its integrated production structure and sustainability-focused practices. The company commissioned a new fertilizer facility in Samsun, carried out planned maintenance shutdowns at its facilities, and successfully achieved 1 million tons of cathode copper production while publishing its first sustainability report.
Meeting approximately 20% of Turkey's copper demand, Eti Bakır approached its 2025 production activities not solely from a capacity-expansion perspective, but through the lens of production continuity, resource efficiency and long-term sustainability. Through its integrated production structure spanning from ore to final product and its value chain extending from copper to fertilizers, the company continued to support strengthening domestic production in strategic industrial inputs and fertilizer supply.
Evaluating the company's approach throughout 2025, Eti Bakır General Manager Asım Akbaş stated: "Domestic and integrated production in strategic products like copper and fertilizers is not limited to capacity expansion alone. As Eti Bakır, we realize this approach through an integrated structure that prioritizes production continuity, uses resources more efficiently, and considers environmental impacts. Through planned maintenance shutdowns at our facilities and projects focused on energy and water efficiency in 2025, we strengthened our production continuity. With the new fertilizer facility we commissioned in Samsun, we transformed the circular economy approach into a concrete application at the intersection of industry and agriculture. We view domestic production not merely as today's need, but as a strategic responsibility toward our country's future. In this direction, we continue our path with a production model that reduces environmental impacts and creates long-term value."

INTEGRATED PRODUCTION CAPACITY REINFORCED WITH 1 MILLION TONS OF CATHODE COPPER PRODUCTION
In line with its strong technical infrastructure and sustainable production approach, Eti Bakır has reached 1 million tons of cathode copper production to date. Produced in compliance with international standards at 99.99% purity (LME Grade A), cathode copper provides uninterrupted and reliable supply to many strategic sectors including energy, cable, automotive and electronics. This production volume demonstrates Eti Bakır's capacity to manage large-scale production within an integrated structure, its operational continuity approach, and its strong contribution to domestic production in strategic industrial inputs.
INFRASTRUCTURE STRENGTHENED FOR SUSTAINABILITY IN DOMESTIC PRODUCTION
In pursuit of its goal to maintain domestic production in an uninterrupted and safe manner, Eti Bakır carried out a planned maintenance shutdown at its Metal Recovery and Integrated Fertilizer Facility in Mardin Mazıdağı during summer 2025. Through maintenance, modernization and automation work, the facility's production safety and efficiency were improved, while the planned shutdown process was completed in a manner supporting production continuity.
NEW FERTILIZER FACILITY IN SAMSUN COMMISSIONED
In 2025, a new fertilizer facility integrated with the Samsun Smelting and Electrolysis Plant was commissioned. The facility, realized with approximately 300 million dollars of investment, has an annual DAP fertilizer production capacity of 450,000 tons. With this investment, Eti Bakır's total fertilizer production capacity reached 850,000 tons annually, and the company has produced over 3 million tons of fertilizers since beginning operations. Within this integrated structure, DAP and NP group fertilizer products are manufactured. Through the circular economy approach, a value-added production chain established between industry and agriculture provides strong support to domestic and sustainable agricultural input supply.
SUSTAINABILITY PERFORMANCE DISCLOSED COMPREHENSIVELY FOR THE FIRST TIME
In 2025, Eti Bakır published its first Sustainability Report, sharing its environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance with the public within a comprehensive framework for the first time. Prepared in line with international reporting standards, the report marked an important turning point in the institutionalization of the company's sustainable business model. Through energy efficiency projects, 12,672 tons of carbon emissions were prevented, while system improvements in water management achieved 3.2 million cubic meters of water savings.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONTRIBUTION INCREASED THROUGH AFFORESTATION WORK
Eti Bakır brought environmental responsibility practices to the field through afforestation work carried out at eight of its operations stretching from Samsun to Siirt as part of National Afforestation Day on 11 November. In activities conducted with the participation of employees and local stakeholders, a total of 41,000 saplings were planted, and the company shared its cumulative 2.3 million saplings planted to date in its sustainability report with the public. Under a protocol signed with the General Directorate of Forests, Eti Bakır plans to continue afforestation work within an institutional program framework, aiming to plant a total of 1 million saplings in four different regions over the next four years.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS-FOCUSED EDUCATION PROGRAMS EXPANDED
Within the scope of the "Environmental Inspectors" project launched by Eti Bakır in 2021, education activities aimed at spreading environmental awareness through children and youth were continued in 2025. Within the 2024–2025 academic year, the project reached 3,448 students across 82 schools in Adıyaman, Artvin, İzmir, Kastamonu, Mardin and Siirt, bringing the total number of students reached since the project's inception to 7,154. The practice, in which engineers working at Eti Bakır participate on a voluntary basis, ensured the continuation of an environment-conscious production approach as a long-term education program.
SUPPORT FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE SITES CONTINUED
Eti Bakır continued its support for cultural heritage sites in the regions where it conducts production activities in 2025. In this context, support was provided for archaeological excavation work at Samsun İkiztepe Mound, Çanakkale İnkaya Cave and Elazığ Salkaya, contributing to the continuation of scientific work carried out in these areas.
Eti Bakır aims to continue its investments that strengthen domestic and integrated production capacity, reduce environmental impacts and consider social contribution in the coming period. A long-term value chain based on balancing industry, agriculture and environment in line with sustainable mining practices is envisioned, with this approach set to be reflected across all activity areas from production processes to human resources.
