Enerjisa Enerji and Çimsa Partner on Major Investment
Enerjisa Enerji and Çimsa are investing in a waste heat recovery system in Eskişehir, aiming to meet 25% of the Çimsa Eskişehir Plant's electricity consumption from the facility.
According to a statement from Enerjisa Enerji, Enerjisa Enerji and Çimsa have signed an Energy Performance Contract for the installation of a waste heat recovery system at the Çimsa Eskişehir Plant.
With the investment to be made by Enerjisa Enerji, the system is expected to be completed by the end of next year, generating 40 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and meeting 25% of the Çimsa Eskişehir Plant's annual electricity consumption. The electricity generated is calculated to be equivalent to the annual consumption of 13,000 households.
Çimsa CEO Umut Zenar said that reducing carbon emissions is one of the important agenda items. Noting that in addition to optimizing current technologies, they aim to increase the energy they obtain from renewable sources, Zenar continued as follows:
'Our renewable energy source electricity usage rate was realized at 58.2% in 2022, and we aim to raise this ratio above 80% by 2030. As Çimsa, we are working on alternative fuels that substitute fossil fuels and new technological changes that support low carbon emissions for a sustainable life.
With the Afyon Solar Power Plant project we implemented in this scope and the Afyon Waste-Derived Fuel Feeding Facility, we have taken very important steps in our sustainability agenda. We are continuing this process with our Eskişehir Waste Heat Recovery investment, and we would like to thank all our colleagues and the Enerjisa Enerji team who contributed to this effort.'
The system to be installed at the Eskişehir Plant will pay for itself in a short time
Enerjisa Enerji CEO Murat Pınar noted that more than 70% of carbon emissions come from the energy sector and that the cement sector is among the sectors with the most intense energy consumption, continuing as follows: 'At this precise point, as Enerjisa and Çimsa, under the 'Energy of My Business' umbrella, we are taking steps to show that we are part of the solution just as we are part of the problem, rolling up our sleeves in the fight against climate change for a better future. Signing a waste heat recovery investment at the Eskişehir Plant that will pay for itself in a very short time excites us both in terms of running together toward our sustainability goals and in terms of putting forward a success story. Moreover, by conducting energy generation tests on-site and providing performance guarantees, I believe we have created a comfortable process for Çimsa.' SourceAdvertisement
