Ecological Thermal Insulation

Today, various regulations and laws are implementing measures to reduce environmental damage. One of the measures that can be taken to reduce damage to nature is thermal insulation.

As is known, the world's human population is growing at a rapid pace. Due to population growth and increasing demand, recent construction of shopping centers, office buildings and structures has led to increases in energy requirements and energy consumption. To meet rapidly rising consumption trends, continuous production is taking place. Since most production processes involve non-renewable raw material inputs, the environment is suffering significant damage from these processes. Today, various regulations and laws are being implemented to reduce environmental harm. One of the measures that can be taken to minimize damage to nature is thermal insulation. With thermal insulation, there will be a reduction in the use of non-renewable energy sources and energy consumption. In our country, annual energy consumption per square meter in buildings without thermal insulation is between 300-350 kWh, while in insulated buildings it is around 120 kWh, meaning that a family of four's monthly natural gas bill of TRY 400 for heating can be reduced to as low as TRY 160. Based on these figures, monthly savings per apartment would be TRY 240, resulting in TRY 2,880 in savings over one year. Within this scope, ODE Yalıtım operates with an approach sensitive to our country and environment. As a company, in addition to providing energy savings, we minimize environmental damage by ensuring the recyclability of the products we manufacture. Our products manufactured for thermal insulation within our company are extruded polystyrene foam under the ODE ISIPAN brand, glass wool under the ODE STARFLEX brand, and rubber foam under the ODE RFLEX brand. In our ISIPAN extruded polystyrene foam production, by discontinuing the use of hydrochlorofluorocarbon gas (FCKW12, HFCKW142b, etc.) and using chlorine-free gases (HFKW 134a, HFKW152a, dimethyl ether), damage to the ozone layer has been completely eliminated. Additionally, in future periods, the use of CO2 in ISIPAN production is targeted, with maximum improvements aimed at both ozone depletion potential and global warming potential. Within this scope, the HCFC Umbrella project conducted with the Ministry of Environment and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) has been completed. Thus, as a company we produce 100 percent ozone-friendly products. Furthermore, waste materials generated during ISIPAN production are converted into granules and can be fed back into the production line, so no polymer waste is released to the environment. The table below shows ozone depletion potential and global warming potential values for certain gases. In glass wool production, high-rate use of waste glass minimizes the energy required for production, thereby reducing emission amounts that harm the environment, and new products are obtained through recycling of idle waste glass. In rubber foam production, azodicarbonamide decomposition reaction-generated CO, CO2, N2 gases are used in converting acrylonitrile butadiene into rubber foam. Gases resulting from the decomposition reaction are present in the air and have no harmful effect on the environment. Additionally, by-products and waste rubber generated in rubber foam production are subjected to different processes and then used as ground covering in parks and gardens. Moreover, in our cogeneration facility within our factory, we generate the energy we use to reduce our country's energy consumption. As ODE Yalıtım, we perform necessary optimizations on all our production lines to minimize energy consumption and design our products to cause the least possible environmental harm.
