Low Carbon Heroes Announced Under the main support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Istanbul Technical University (ITU), the Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SÜT-D) held the 8th Istanbul Carbon Summit under the title 'Climate Resilient Industry and Strong Turkey' on 2 May 2023 at ITU's registered green campus with high stakeholder participation. At the Low Carbon Hero Awards Ceremony, organizations were honored for their successful contributions to carbon management. Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, Faculty Member at ITU and President of SÜT-D, stated that by achieving climate-resilient production, we can increase our growth and export strength, noting that 'the low carbon economy path is essential in the green, circular and digital transformation of industry.' SÜT-D, which aims to support those who have achieved excellence in carbon management in sustainable production, consumption and services, and those working for a low carbon economy, thereby increasing awareness of the issue in society through stakeholder participation, rewards greenhouse gas reduction achievements reflected in environmental, social and governance indicators under the umbrella of sustainability management. The award is not presented through a competition; candidates are not compared with each other. In addition to candidates, achievements of individuals and institutions identified through SÜT-D's sectoral monitoring are also evaluated. This year, we declared GÜLDÜR GÜLDÜR SHOW, which in Season 2022 Episode 316 with the Global Warming Sketch contributed significantly to widespread awareness by explaining global warming, climate change and carbon footprint in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner, and which always prioritizes human and nature protection in its sketches, as the 2023 SÜT-D Low Carbon Hero. Erdem Yener and Uğur Bilgin received the award, which brought joy to our summit. We loved them dearly. We loved them even more. We congratulate our heroes to whom we presented the award and wish them a happy and sustainable life with a low carbon footprint,' he said.
