Daikin Turkey Steps Up Sustainability and Innovation Efforts

Daikin Türkiye exports to Europe and CIS markets with renewable energy investments and high-efficiency fan coil unit production at its facility in Hendek.

Daikin, which has a deep-rooted 100-year history in the air conditioning sector, continues to strengthen its sustainable production approach in Türkiye’s with its production facility in Sakarya Hendek’. Thanks to the rooftop Solar Power Plant (SPP) installed in Hendek’, Daikin Türkiye meets all of its energy needs from renewable sources, moving forward in line with its goal of becoming carbon neutral. In this context, the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) obtained certifies that the electricity used at the Hendek facility is entirely sourced from renewable energy sources and that the zero-emission target has been successfully achieved.

In addition to these environmentally friendly energy investments, the Hendek facility has become the production center within the Daikin Group for all fan coil units exported to the European market. With innovative technologies developed by Turkish engineers at its R&D center, Daikin Türkiye undertakes the responsibility of being the sole supplier to Europe in fan coil unit production. In this context, Daikin Türkiye carries out the production of the entire cassette-type fan coil unit series at its Hendek facility and further strengthens its market share in the region by exporting these products to Europe and surrounding countries.

Daikin Production Facility uses renewable energy

Daikin Türkiye accelerated its steps towards sustainability with the SPP (Solar Power Plant) project in Hendek’. Daikin Türkiye completed the second phase of the SPP (Solar Power Plant) project, whose first phase was implemented in 2020, in August 2023’, reaching a total installed capacity of 7.84 MWp. According to Daikin Türkiye’'s 2023 fiscal year report, it has been certified by I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), the world's most widely recognized certification, that the entire 9,634 MWh of electrical energy consumed at the Hendek Production Facility that year, generated and exported from the SPP project, was sourced entirely from renewable energy sources. This data is also an indicator that zero emissions were achieved in electricity consumption. Thus, Daikin Türkiye prevented 3,969 t-CO2 emissions, equivalent to saving 112,717 trees, and took one more step closer to its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral company.

Daikin Türkiye, Europe’'s only center in fan coil unit production  

In addition, Daikin Türkiye’'s production facility in Sakarya Hendek’ has been positioned as Europe’'s only fan coil unit production center. As a result of innovative R&D efforts developed by Turkish engineers, Daikin Türkiye produces the entire cassette-type fan coil unit series and exports it to the European market. The new-generation cassette-type fan coil unit devices, models FWF-D and FWC-D, provide both energy savings and comfortable air conditioning solutions in large areas such as offices, hotels and residences. These devices, which provide high energy efficiency with EC motor technology, also stand out with their low noise levels and stylish designs.

Exciting developments shared with the press 

Daikin Türkiye held a press luncheon on November 18’ to share more information about its sustainability projects and leadership in the sector. Daikin Türkiye Deputy General Managers Olcay Avcı and Tuncer Gülsaran presented detailed information to attendees about renewable energy investments, the I-REC certificate and the company's achievements in fan coil unit production for the European market.

Split Air Conditioner Production Line / Hendek Sakarya

Air conditioners produced on Daikin Türkiye's Split Air Conditioner Production Line undergo 100% high pressure, function, performance, electrical safety and noise tests. Production is carried out hands-free through robot applications used in the test processes during manufacturing, and particularly through welding robots used in copper pipe joint welding processes at critical points.

Air Handling Unit Production Line / Hendek Sakarya

At the production facility, which has Türkiye's most modern air handling unit production line, comfort and hygienic type air handling units, hygienic package type air handling units, cell extractors, pool dehumidification units, kitchen extractors, shelter ventilation devices and heat recovery devices are produced with the importance given to R&D efforts. Our central ventilation systems are preferred in numerous prestigious hotel, hospital, pharmaceutical factory, shopping mall, congress center and office projects both domestically and abroad.

Fan Coil Unit Production Line / Hendek Sakarya

As a result of design and certification activities that began in 2009, the fan coil units produced at the production facility in Hendek Sakarya are preferred in numerous hotels and business centers domestically and abroad due to their low noise levels and high efficiency.

Combi Boiler Production Line / Hendek Sakarya

Our combi boilers, designed by an expert team at the factory, which manufactures with great importance given to R&D efforts, are produced using the highest quality components in the sector, passing 100% safety, function, leak-tightness and pressure resistance tests, with 100% visual control systems performed by robots. CE certifications are carried out by Europe's accredited laboratories. 

VRV Production Line / Hendek Sakarya

The VRV Production Line, which went into operation in 2022, is the second largest VRV manufacturer in Europe among Daikin's global production facilities to manufacture in this field, after Belgium. VRV outdoor units, produced with Japanese technology, are recognized as the products with the highest seasonal efficiency in air conditioning systems. Investment has been made in the VRV outdoor unit production line for an environmentally friendly, state-of-the-art paint facility that reuses waste flue gases for heating. High product quality has been achieved with minimum manpower through automatic transfer systems, and high productivity has been achieved through a U-shaped production flow design. Error prevention systems and automatic test processes have been integrated into the processes for maximum product reliability. Maximum traceability has been achieved through the use of MES (manufacturing execution system) in production. 4m model modular conveyors designed by Daikin Japan Manufacturing Engineering are used on the production line. This model, designed for the standardization of factories manufacturing worldwide, has also been installed at the Daikin Türkiye factory. With this design, both initial investment and maintenance costs have been improved. Weight has been reduced through the use of aluminum profiles.
