Daikin Turkey Sets Ambitious Target Through 2050 ISTANBUL (AA)- Hasan Önder, Chief Executive Officer of Daikin Turkey, stated: "We have set a target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050. We aim to achieve 50 percent of this by 2030. We hope other companies will follow our example in this regard." Daikin Turkey shared its Sustainability Report with media representatives under the hosting of Daikin CEO Hasan Önder. At the event, a session titled "Climate Crisis and the Future of Our World" was held, moderated by Merve Yıldırım and featuring Prof. Dr. Levent Kurnaz, İlker Ayrık, Tülin Özen, and Tansu Biçer. Speaking at the opening of the event, Hasan Önder noted that in recent years, with global temperatures rising in parallel with climate change, air conditioning products have become an important part of the infrastructure supporting societies. Stating that Daikin's primary objective is sustainability, Önder said: "As Daikin, we have consolidated our efforts against climate change under three main headings. We can summarize these as creating value for cities, the world, and people. We will translate our global targets into actions under these main headings. As a first step, we have prepared the Daikin Turkey Sustainability Report, which we are publishing for the first time. In line with Daikin's global philosophy, we will implement these efforts within our five-year plans under these headings." Through its localization project, the company achieved a cost advantage of EUR 2 million from products sourced from Turkey, reducing shipping expenses and fuel consumption while lowering carbon emissions. With the solar power plant project put into operation in July 2020, the company now sources energy from this facility for its plant in Hendek, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent. As Turkey takes steps to implement the Paris Climate Agreement, companies are drawing attention through their pioneering practices in this area. Daikin Turkey, which has developed all production and management processes based on sustainability policies, published a report on its work in this direction. In the company's released 122-page "Sustainability Report," all processes from supply chain and logistics, research and development centers and environmental vision, operational efficiency and climate change and energy policies, to water and waste management and human resources management are described with data.
