Child park restored with waste materials through "Building Future" project

The project by architect Büşra Gizem Yılmaz and architecture student Abdullah Doğmuş was realized through the "Building Future" project competition organized by Sika Building Chemicals. The project enabled the restoration of Veysel Karani Children's Park, operated by Sancaktepe Municipality, using waste materials. Sika Building Chemicals announced the "Building Future" project competition, organized to help young people with creative ideas realize their projects, in November of last year. With this competition aimed at drawing attention to the importance of waste management for a sustainable environment, Sika Building Chemicals asked young people to share creative project proposals on waste management and recycling. As a result of the "Building Future" project competition, the two most creative projects selected were given the opportunity to be realized. Children learn while playing Through the project by Yılmaz and Doğmuş, which is grounded in sustainability and ecology, and with the support of Sancaktepe Municipality, the damaged areas of the approximately 1,050 square-meter Veysel Karani Children's Park where Doğmuş spent his childhood were restored with recycled products. The architects of the project, which aims to give children different perspectives, also enabled children to learn while having fun. A scrabble game designed from concrete cube samples brought an innovative perspective to the play area, free from clichés.
