Clariant Launches Telasperse™ PVC Pigment Preparations for Plasticized and Unplasticized PVC
Clariant is adding a new series of plastic colorants with Telasperse™ PVC, developed for plasticized and non-plasticized PVC. The new product family includes one blue, three red and three yellow, along with two black and one white color. Additional colors are expected to be added to the series in the coming months.
Plasticized PVC manufacturers and processors have faced difficulties obtaining quality pigment preparations from global suppliers until now. Clariant's entry into this important market will provide significant benefits to the sector in terms of expanding options.
Telasperse PVC products are fluid, dust-free pigment preparations containing organic pigments in approximately 40 to 50 percent ratio. The product can also be supplied in pellet form upon request. These PVC-based products, which contain phthalate-free plasticizers, do not use lead in their stabilization.
Jordi van Berkum, Head of Sales and Marketing for Clariant Pigments Business Unit Middle East and Africa, said on the matter: "With Telasperse PVC pigment preparations, we are creating new opportunities for PVC manufacturers and customers who produce these products in film and coating forms."
The new preparations are particularly well-suited for applications such as cables, profiles and floor coverings.
Hikmet Taşkın, Sales Manager for Plastics and Special Applications at Clariant Turkey Pigments Business Unit, stated that "The new pigment preparations keep processing costs low through their ease of mixing into PVC and high pigment content, while their dust-free nature ensures safety during processing," and continued:
"Because pigment quality remains consistently high, it is always possible to obtain the same quality end product. The excellent dispersion properties of the pigments are particularly important for film manufacturers as they ensure a smooth and spotless surface appearance while the high chroma value enables bright color."
Clariant can develop custom colors by blending existing colorants according to the scale of the operation, as well as providing in-depth service, technical consulting and support.
Certain products in the Telasperse PVC series are suitable for food contact and toy applications, while all products comply with requirements such as RoHS, EN71-3, 94/62/EG, AP89 (I) and EU 10/2011. Although Telasperse PVC was specifically developed for plasticized PVC, it can also be used in some rigid PVC applications.
