Muttenz, 12 January 2016Clariant, world leader in specialty chemicals, has published ColorForward® 2017, its color trend forecast guide for the plastics industry. Since 2006, ColorForward® has guided the sector by visualizing social and commercial trends such as data mining, social isolation, and the search for meaning. Clariant has released the eleventh edition of its trend and color analysis guide, prepared since 2006 for plastic product designers and marketing professionals. ColorForward® aims to help plastic product designers and marketing professionals make effective color choices by offering color options based on four social trends that drive consumer behavior. 2017's colors are dark and matte… Judith van Vliet, Designer at ColorWorks Europe, said, "ColorForward 2017 is quite different from the 2016 version. We believe it reflects the fact that our mood has become somewhat more fearful, more introverted, and conveys the disconnection that many people feel these days. There are some exceptions, of course, but our colors are generally more matte, darker, and even more ambiguous." Judith added, "Everyone's response to ColorForward will be different. Each trend theme consists of a five-color palette, but their purpose is not to predict 'fashion's new color'; Clariant offers its consumers a more creative experience. These trend themes and color palettes will serve as confirmation of what some see and have in mind, while for others they will be a source of inspiration." ANNOY FIRM OMIT This trend, an anagram of the English phrase "My information," aims to express information. Rooted in data mining and systematic classification of digital information, the Annoy Firm Omit trend features dark and grey tones. DELONELINATION Judith van Vliet describes Delonelination as "a wake-up call." Delonelination symbolizes loneliness, which is increasing particularly among young people, with pale and matte colors ranging between beige and brown. NEBULOVE Nebulove represents complex relationships. This theme's colors include shades of red, light green and yellow, along with purple and a brownish orange, as well as light pink representing "happy singles." Trend: IT'S A TRAP! Van Vliet says, "Life can be a trap. If you don't intervene, it can become difficult, stressful, or very boring. That's why people are now looking for new ways to break out of this cycle and push the limits of the mind. This trend is about escaping and finding new perceptions, which naturally creates a new aesthetic in colors."
