Çimko Registers Global Responsibility Commitment by Joining UN Global Compact

Çimko reinforced its commitment to global sustainability principles by joining the United Nations Global Compact. The company, which is implementing transformation steps ranging from green cement production that reduces clinker use to renewable energy investments, will submit its first "Communication on Progress" report by July 2026.

Çimko, a subsidiary of Sanko Holding, formally joined the United Nations Global Compact, aligning its sustainability vision with international principles. In doing so, Çimko reiterated its objectives in building a more equitable, transparent and sustainable future. Committing to conduct its operations in accordance with the 10 principles of UN Global Compact, Çimko will also report its performance to the public on a regular basis. The company will submit its first Communication on Progress (CoP) report by July 2026.

Çimko CEO Dr. Önder Kırca, noting that the company is undergoing a multifaceted transformation in sustainability, stated: "In 2023, with a total investment of TRY 80 million, we implemented practices that reduce environmental impact, such as alternative fuel use, renewable energy projects, waste heat recovery and water reuse. To reduce our carbon footprint, we are targeting a reduction in the clinker ratio used in cement production to 80% by 2026 and to 70% by 2034. Our participation in UN Global Compact is also an indication of our commitment to placing sustainability at the center of our corporate culture. We took this step not only to reduce our environmental impact, but also to create greater value for all our stakeholders through an ethical, inclusive and people-focused business model."
