Bionome's CBD Breakthrough

Bionome Innovation and Technology Company, established in 2022 at ODÜ Teknokent, aims to revolutionize the CBD (Cannabidiol) sector through sustainable production technologies. Nerve Cansu İşeri, Chairman of the Board, stated, "We have achieved successful results in laboratory environments for the production of Cannabidiol (CBD), a compound frequently mentioned in the health sector in recent years."
Designing a Sustainable Future Through Microalga-Based Production
İşeri noted that Bionome has developed a microalga-based approach using genetic engineering methods and gene regions that produce CBD in plants for CBD production, saying, "We remove the plant from the equation and conduct production directly in the laboratory. In addition to being sustainable, reliable and environmentally friendly, this method significantly reduces carbon emissions and water footprint compared to traditional methods."
CBD Heads Toward a USD 108 Billion Market
The global CBD market, which currently has a volume of USD 22.8 billion, is expected to reach USD 108 billion by 2032. İşeri stated that they have no competitors in this field in Turkey and Europe, and that Bionome aims to capture a significant share of this market. İşeri said, "While traditional CBD production allows for two production cycles per year, with our technology we can create two production lines per month. Furthermore, whereas CBD has a short shelf life in traditional production, our produced CBDs have a shelf life of more than three years."
Bionome Not Resting on Awards
Bionome was founded in 2022 with support from TÜBİTAK and won numerous awards in a short time. Among these are the İKMİB 10th Chemistry R&D Market Award, the EIT Food EWA Turkey Award and the ODÜ Teknokent YFYİ Grand Award. İşeri noted that they were not satisfied with these achievements and continued to develop new projects with KOSGEB support. Saying "Within the next 5 years we aim to establish our pilot production facility, continue our R&D activities and add new products to our portfolio. Our search for investment will continue during this period," İşeri stated that they plan to grow not only in the CBD market but also in the food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical and pet products sectors.
