German BASF Chemical Group's China facility has been under construction since last year. BASF announced that its first facility in its China operations will be operated using power generated entirely from renewable energy sources. The new complex, scheduled for completion by 2030, will have its first factories ready for production starting in 2022. All facilities to be established now and in the future will operate with clean and ecologically produced electricity. According to the announcement, BASF has agreed with China Resources Power on a contract whereby this energy producer will establish and operate facilities producing ecological power exclusively for BASF and supply all new facilities with renewable energy. The holding did not provide information on the type of electricity generation. The facilities being constructed by the chemical group, which will become the company's third largest installation after its headquarters in Ludwigshafen and Antwerp upon completion, will be located in Zhanjiang, a city in Guangdong province in southern China.
