Akfen Yenilenebilir Enerji Receives "Positive EIA" Decision
Akfen Renewable Energy has received a positive environmental impact assessment decision from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the Gelinkaya Solar Power Plant and Electricity Storage Facility project it is developing in the Aşkale district of Erzurum. With this decision, Gelinkaya became the first project in Turkey to receive a positive environmental impact assessment in the solar power generation-integrated electricity storage sector.
Akfen Renewable Energy General Manager Mustafa Kemal Güngör stated, "In line with our company's objective to expand its investment portfolio in sustainable energy solutions, this project has the distinction of being the first electricity storage project integrated with solar energy production nationwide."
Akfen Renewable Energy, which has an installed capacity of 700 MW operating exclusively from domestic and renewable sources such as solar, water and wind, received a positive environmental impact assessment decision from the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the Gelinkaya Solar Power Plant and Electricity Storage Facility project being developed in the Aşkale district of Erzurum. The facility, with a capacity of 35.75 MWm / 30 MWe and built on an area of 44.86 hectares, also includes a modern storage facility with a capacity of 30 MWe / 60 MWh.
With this decision, Akfen Renewable Energy has received a positive environmental impact assessment decision for the first of its independent electricity storage projects totaling 285 MWe capacity, which are currently in the investment phase. The decision also marks this project as the first to receive a positive environmental impact assessment in Turkey's solar power generation-integrated electricity storage sector.
Akfen Renewable Energy General Manager Mustafa Kemal Güngör made the following comments on the matter:
