9th Istanbul Carbon Summit begins
The 9th Istanbul Carbon Summit organized by the Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption (SÜT-D) with the main support of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has commenced at the ITU Süleyman Demirel Cultural Centre.
The 9th Istanbul Carbon Summit, held under the theme "Climate Change-Related Risks, Opportunities and Carbon Trading," is taking place on 6-7 May at the ITU Süleyman Demirel Cultural Centre. The summit, which began with an opening ceremony, will feature sessions titled Financial Opportunities for Green Transformation; Carbon Management and Industry; Carbon Management and Energy; and Carbon Management and Trading in Business, where business leaders will deliver presentations on green, digital and circular transformation.
The summit opened with remarks by Prof. Dr. Filiz Karaosmanoğlu, Faculty Member at Istanbul Technical University and Chair of the Association for Sustainable Production and Consumption. Following Karaosmanoğlu, Prof. Dr. Şule Itır Satoğlu, Vice Rector of Istanbul Technical University, delivered remarks.
İKMİB Chair Adil Pelister to Speak
On the first day of the summit, two sessions will be held under the title "Financial Opportunities for Green Transformation, Carbon Management and Industry." Additionally, Adil Pelister, Chair of the Board of İKMİB (Istanbul Chemical Exporters Association), will deliver a presentation titled "Production, Exports and the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism: Is Turkey Ready?"
Climate Change Director Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar to Address Delegates
The second day of the summit will open with remarks by Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, Rector of Istanbul Technical University. On the second day, Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, Director of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, will address the delegates. The second day will conclude with the Low Carbon Heroes Award Ceremony.
