130,000 Units of Waste Recycled in 45 Days

130,000 Waste Units Directed to Recycling in 45 Days Data from the 45-day pilot phase of the EKOMAT project, implemented in Yalova in recent months, have been released. According to the figures obtained, approximately 130,000 waste units were directed to recycling in 45 days. The EKOMAT application, launched for the first time in Turkey in Yalova, saw a total of 30 deposit return machines installed at 15 locations across the city. The EKOMAT system, which ensures recycling of glass, plastic and metal beverage packaging, was used by 4,616 people in Yalova over 45 days. The machines collectively directed 130,000 waste units to recycling. Noting that the significance of launching this application from Yalova, where Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk conveyed an environmental message to the world through the Moving Mansion, Yalova Municipal Mayor Deputy Mustafa Tutuk made the following remarks on the subject: "The 45-day results have made us quite pleased. The number of environmentally conscious citizens in our city is quite high. Given this outcome, waste in the city is being deposited in collection points and directed to recycling. It has been a successful application and we are fortunate to be the pilot city. It will serve as an example for other provinces."
