Yokeş® Basket Mill for DBM Series / Batch Processes

As Yokeş Makina, the DBM Series Basket Mills we manufacture are designed to meet the requirements arising from today's modern wet grinding processes. Compared to conventional Bead-Mills, the primary objective is to simplify the wet grinding process; eliminate the need for additional tanks, pumps, hoses, piping systems etc. that are difficult to clean; and achieve narrower particle distribution and higher color strength in shorter processing times.

Operating Principle

The high-speed disk beneath the basket creates suction, drawing the product to be ground from the top of the basket into the conical-mouth grinding chamber. Other rotating disks within the grinding chamber impart the necessary energy and motion to the grinding/crushing beads within the chamber, performing the grinding/crushing operation. A broad, high-permeability screen system exists beneath the basket. This screen allows the product passing through the grinding chamber to return to the tank while retaining the grinding/crushing beads within the grinding chamber. The product that is ground and passes through the screen is thrown toward the tank walls by means of the centrifugal force created by the high-speed disk beneath the basket. With the assistance of the conical structure of the tank bottom, the product enters the grinding chamber again from above, establishing circulation. Instead of single or double passes of product at low flow rate as in a conventional Bead-Mill, the grinding process achieved through multiple passes at higher product flow rate produces more effective results depending on the product being processed. The DBM Series Basket Mill operates on this principle and ensures that all product within the tank undergoes multiple passes through the grinding chamber during operation. The results achieved for the finished product are a more uniform structure, faster grinding, narrower particle distribution/fineness value, and high color strength.

Advantages

When compared to conventional Bead-Mills, DBM Series Basket Mills have considerably high efficiency. Since more circulation is provided per unit time, grinding times are reduced and energy consumption decreases. Since the products to be processed are treated in a single tank from the beginning to the end of the process, the need for additional tanks, pumps, hoses and piping systems is eliminated, and pre-dispersion/pre-mixing times are also reduced. The DBM Series Basket Mills have effective cooling systems thanks to water jackets on both the walls of the product preparation tanks and the grinding chambers. This allows product temperature to be optimally controlled during processing. Should product structure change during processing, the addition of necessary binders, solvents or other additives can easily be made without stopping the process. The grinding chamber and internal components, as well as the cleaning of grinding/crushing beads, are very fast and practical.
