Precision Flow Meter for Auxiliary Gases
The Proline t-mass F/I 300/500, a reliable and versatile device for pure gases and gas mixtures, supports drinking water safety and compliance with waste regulations.
Endress+Hauser offers a flow meter that enables facility managers to optimize disinfection processes for drinking water and wastewater.
The Proline t-mass F/I 300/500 devices, delivering highly accurate and reliable gas measurement, help guarantee water quality and safety in accordance with local regulations.
Equipped with Heartbeat Technology for fault diagnosis and monitoring, the devices provide automatic device verification without process interruption. An alert function that reports fluctuating flow or condensation conditions further improves the monitoring process.
All wetted parts are made from corrosion-resistant steel to achieve high compatibility standards and ensure long-term operation.
The devices feature a touchscreen-controlled backlit display. They can also be easily operated via a web server and WLAN.
Endress+Hauser has successfully installed more than 100,000 t-mass flow meters in compressed air and gas applications worldwide.
Building on this experience, the measurement instrumentation specialist has developed a new thermal mass flow meter that supports facility managers in providing water safety in disinfection processes to prevent waterborne diseases, while also enabling them to optimize maintenance strategies to reduce operating expenses.
Accurate and Robust
The Proline t-mass F/I 300/500 delivers high measurement accuracy (±1.0%) with excellent repeatability (±0.25%), even when process and ambient conditions fluctuate significantly. Low pressure and low gas flow rates can be measured seamlessly thanks to high adjustability (up to 1000:1). The t-mass F and t-mass I sensors offer maximum robustness, enabling them to withstand factors such as line vibrations, solid particles in gas, and process fluctuations (e.g., temperature shocks). Thanks to the patented innovative sensor design, the device can operate for extended periods with minimal maintenance, saving time and money for the user. All wetted parts are made from corrosion-resistant steel to achieve high compatibility standards and ensure long-term operation. In gas applications where unwanted deposits form in pipes, the sensor can be removed for cleaning and quickly and easily reinstalled without reducing measurement performance. The T-mass F and I sensors are used at process temperatures up to 180°C (356 °F) and pressures up to 40 bar (580 psi). The t-mass F/I 300/500 devices are equipped with alarm functions used to instantly detect unwanted condensation or fluctuating flow in the sensor. This feature prevents long-term corrosion damage in pipe systems in applications experiencing condensation. Any potential device or process fault is clearly classified and immediately displayed following NAMUR NE107. This enables countermeasures to be taken quickly and in a targeted manner.Fault Diagnosis, Monitoring and Verification via Heartbeat Technology
Heartbeat Technology is integrated into all Proline measurement devices and provides continuous self-diagnosis with the highest fault diagnosis coverage (>95%) and metrologically verifiable device verification without process interruption. For safety reasons, Heartbeat Technology features a "Heartbeat Sensor Integrity" test function to detect changes in measurement electronics and/or the sensor resulting from extreme environmental and process conditions. Heartbeat Technology reduces complexity and risk in the system, thereby increasing system reliability and usability. The Proline 300/500 transmitters include a web server as standard. Users can access all fault diagnosis, configuration and device data directly using a standard Ethernet cable and a laptop or via wireless connection over WLAN, without additional software or hardware. This provides targeted and time-saving maintenance and service. The data storage concept (HistoROM) guarantees maximum data security before, during and after service. All calibration data and device parameters are safely stored in the HistoROM data storage module and are automatically restored after maintenance work. Therefore, spare parts replacement is simple, saves time and reduces unnecessary downtime. The t-mass F/I 300/500 sensors can be combined with two different transmitters: a compact version (Proline 300) or a separate version with up to four inputs and outputs (Proline 500). Digital signal processing begins in the intelligent sensor and forms the basis for true multivariate measurement. This means that t-mass can record multiple measurement values such as mass flow, flow rate or gas temperature simultaneously for process control and transmit them to a process control system. Full access to all measurement data, including fault diagnosis data obtained by Heartbeat Technology, is always possible through HART or Modbus RS485 as well as digital data transmission via WLAN or freely configurable inputs and outputs.Gas Calculator for Maximum Flexibility
The t-mass F/I 300/500 measurement system is equipped with the Endress+Hauser "Gas Calculator," a software-based dataset containing typical standard gases and their properties. The Gas Calculator provides precise measurement of pure gases and gas mixtures under current operating conditions. Users can choose from 22 standard gases or create gas mixtures by combining up to eight of these gases. The Gas Calculator can also calculate additional process variables such as flow rate, reference density, corrected volume and energy flow. Other features include dynamic correction for changes in pressure, temperature and gas composition, and the ability to switch programmed gases without requiring recalibration. It also has a switching function for two predefined gas groups via a status input, for example in processes where spraying with additional gas is used.
