"Process Safety Virtual Symposium" to Be Held on 9-10 February 2021

Recent developments around the world and in our country have necessitated changes in industrial operations and consequently in safety. In this context, Kocaeli Chamber of Industry, one of Turkey's largest industrial chambers, will create a platform for discussion of new approaches through the "Process Safety Virtual Symposium" to be held between 9-10 February 2021. This virtual symposium, organized under the coordination of Kocaeli Chamber of Industry and Chem Media/Artkim Group, will focus on the topics "Chemistry and Sustainability" and "Effects of Digitalization on Process Safety". A virtual exhibition area will also be created simultaneously with the virtual symposium, which will be organized with the support and participation of public institutions, universities and sector NGOs. While national and international visionary speakers will share their knowledge and experience with participants in the virtual environment at the symposium, the virtual exhibition area aims to bring together companies offering products/services/consulting and visitors to create new business opportunities. The "Process Safety Virtual Symposium" will start on 9 February 2021 with an opening speech by Ayhan Zeytinoğlu, Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and Chairman of the Board of Management of Kocaeli Chamber of Industry. The first day of the event, which will be moderated by Polisan Kimya General Manager M. Selçuk Denizligil, will focus on "Chemistry and Sustainability" and leading names in the industry will share their comments and views with the audience. The second day of the event, to be held on 10 February 2021, will focus on "Effects of Digitalization on Process Safety". In this session, which will be moderated by HKTM Board Chairman Atıf Tunç Atıl, the new approaches that digitalization, whose importance has become even more evident especially during the pandemic period, will bring to industry and process systems will be examined.

Industry and Process Safety

"Process Safety Management Systems" are designed and implemented by industrial facilities using engineering and design practices. These systems are managed as a disciplined model that addresses all processes in their entirety, particularly to prevent major disasters that flammable or explosive chemicals could cause in case of accidents and to minimize their dispersion to and effects on the environment. Of course, when creating this model, other concepts it interacts with such as "Sustainability" and "Digital Transformation" must also be integrated into the design process in light of technological developments. These topics will be addressed by leading names in the industry at the "Process Safety Virtual Symposium" to be held between 9-10 February 2021.
