European Commission to Provide EUR 2 Million Budget Support to Nanografi A.Ş Project
Nanografi A.Ş, operating in Ankara METU Technopolis, has qualified for support through the European Innovation Council (EIC) established within the European Commission's 'Horizon 2020 Program' for its 'GREENGRAPHENE Project' designed to promote environmentally friendly graphene production and widespread adoption of graphene in industry, under the SME Instrument call. With this support, the European Commission has both recognized graphene production and approved a graphene production model that can be used and scaled across Europe. Since 2015, Nanografi A.Ş has been producing graphene using its own proprietary production method. By the end of 2020, the company increased its production capacity to an annual scale of 100 tons and increased its exports. Nanografi, which began receiving support three years ago through the three-phase SME Instrument support program established by the European Innovation Council (EIC) for technology companies developing prestigious and highly innovative products—in essence, a program rewarding innovative companies—is currently in its second phase.R&D and Production Activities to Gain Value
Nanografi, in the second phase of the 'SME Instrument' support process that began three years ago, will be supported with a EUR 2 million budget. This support is expected to increase Nanografi's production capacity, human resources, and marketing process capabilities. With this project, cited as one of the largest high-technology supports provided by the European Union to Turkey, R&D and production activities are expected to gain greater value in the medium term. With this project, Nanografi A.Ş aims to develop intermediate products that are easier to process in the Composite and Plastics Industry, enabling companies to use graphene in their products easily and reducing graphene production costs."We are among the first companies to start in the world"
Nanografi Program Director Hüseyin Alagöz made statements. Alagöz said: "At Nanografi, we have deep-rooted nanotechnology experience spanning many years. We are among the first companies in the world to start serial graphene production. On the other hand, with our graphene production model and continued R&D, we anticipate future technological needs in advance and work to develop solutions. Today, being among the first companies that come to mind when graphene and graphene technology are mentioned additionally excites us." he said.Exported to Dozens of Countries
Graphene studies, which have gained significant momentum in the USA and China in recent years, are progressing rapidly due to the relatively higher number of R&D centers and employees. Nanografi A.Ş is among the first companies founded on graphene production in the world and, in addition to graphene production, continuously pursues the development of graphene-infused end products through both international collaborations and its own capital. Nanografi exports graphene products to dozens of countries and thus not only creates a new export item but also eliminates import requirements.Advertisement
