Erdemir Commissions Its 6th Steam Boiler
Erdemir has commissioned its sixth steam boiler, which enables effective utilization of by-product gases such as blast furnace gas, steel plant gas and coke gas in production, contributing to additional steam and electricity generation.
OYAK Maden Metalürji company Erdemir has put into operation its sixth steam boiler, which enables more effective and efficient utilization of by-product gases in production. According to the statement made, the new steam boiler, with a production capacity of 160 tons per hour, replaces the first steam boiler that has served the company since its establishment.
The new steam boiler was commissioned on 8 December 2022 in a ceremony attended by Erdemir General Manager Niyazi Aşkın Peker, Erdemir employees and the Erdemir Engineering teams that carried out the project.
Will provide electricity and natural gas savings
Coke gas, blast furnace gas and steel plant gas that emerge as by-products in iron production processes are burned in the steam boilers at the company to obtain steam. The steam obtained is used in supplying combustion air required by blast furnaces and in many production processes at the facilities. With the increased steam, a significant portion of the electricity generation needed by the company is also met. The sixth steam boiler, built with more modern and higher capacity to replace the first steam boiler that has served the company since its establishment, will enable more efficient energy use by providing additional steam production, resulting in electricity and natural gas savings.Advertisement
