Steel Industry Robotic Primer Application: Automatic Robocoating Shopprimer Facility

Steel profiles used in the steel construction sector require certain preparatory steps before painting according to desired properties for surface protection. First, the steel surface must be sandblasted in accordance with sandblasting standards, and dirt and paste must be removed to create a worn surface for paint adhesion. Depending on company capacity, sandblasting is performed either with manual sandblasting cabins or automatic sandblasting. After sandblasting, the metal surface must be painted quickly as it is exposed to corrosion. Companies with high work capacity prefer automatic sandblasting machines. After automatic sandblasting, companies obtain numerous advantages by having the output enter the paint line on the same conveyor with the Robocoating Automatic Shopprimer System. The most important of these advantages are that sandblasted materials enter the paint line without being removed from the conveyor in a single pass and shopprimer is applied at the desired standard micron thickness. In this way, both labor savings and product application standardization are achieved. The discharge conveyor is 6,000 mm long with 10-tonne capacity, power-free, and a free-roller system. In the conveyor design, gaps are left at certain intervals to allow forklift tines to enter easily or crane cables to wrap around the material easily.

10-Training and Commissioning

Operating instructions and maintenance periods for our machines are posted. Facility installation includes 5 working days for commissioning and 15 working days for training. Training after installation is provided one-on-one with materials during commissioning. In this training, painting application of many types of parts is carried out together with personnel, and the aim is for your personnel to fully master the machine.

Robocoating Automatic Shopprimer System Main Features

• The system is controlled via a PLC-controlled touch screen operator panel. • Paint gun painting is detected by encoders on the motor, and paint guns operate in the area where parts are located. • Parts are detected by special sensors installed on the painting carriage, and open/close commands are sent to guns connected to robots installed at the top and bottom of the paint cabin. • Paint start and end times are also set via the operator panel. • The speed of the horizontal movement mechanism (reciprocating motion) is manually adjusted via the operator panel according to conveyor speed. • Part height is detected and automatic direction is given to the upper servo group. • The system has 4 automatic paint guns: 2 on top and 2 on bottom. These guns in paired groups spray sequentially automatically. • Software programs are designed considering all incorrect uses to prevent the machine from damaging itself or its surroundings due to misuse. • An emergency stop button is located in an easily accessible place on the panel. • Electrical input enters the main switch via a terminal strip at the top of the panel. After the switch, distribution terminals are present. R, S, T phases along with neutral and ground cables are color-coded and separated. • Equipment used outside the panel has at least a 3-core grounded separate cable and a generator-equipped terminal group. • All motors are protected by their own current-regulated thermal and thermal-magnetic switch.
