Borusan Emphasizes Occupational Health and Safety

The manifesto emphasizes the value and importance attributed to occupational health and safety.
Focusing on climate, people and innovation in its sustainability journey, Borusan regards itself as an institution that has placed people at its centre since its founding and believes in success through its people. Recognizing the need for employees to feel secure and prioritizing their well-being while creating a safe and peaceful environment in all respects is among the company's priorities, while the sectors in which it operates require placing safety as a top priority. For this reason, Borusan approaches occupational health and safety with seriousness and sensitivity, aiming to implement best practice examples in the sectors where it operates.
Children Draw Attention to Occupational Health and Safety
Believing that occupational health and safety is also a culture, the company prepared a social media film in which the children of Borusan employees draw attention to occupational health and safety, aiming to raise awareness and understanding. In the video shared on Borusan Holding's social media accounts, children share the essentials of occupational health and safety while discussing the steps that must be taken for a safer working environment. Borusan's operating sectors require placing safety as a top priority, and the company approaches occupational health and safety with sensitivity. Many initiatives undertaken in group companies serve occupational health and safety objectives, while innovative projects aimed at preventing accidents are being implemented. Furthermore, Borusan employees receive job-specific training before beginning work and are informed about potential hazards and risks. Nursel Ölmez Ateş, Head of Human Resources and Corporate Communications Group at Borusan Holding, noting that occupational health and safety is one of Borusan's priority issues, said: "We care about creating and developing a safe, healthy and satisfying work environment for our employees. Ensuring the sustainability of employee health and safety across all our business lines is among our most priority and sensitive issues. For this reason, while implementing digital and innovative safety applications with the support of technology, we aim for our employees to adopt occupational health and safety as a culture." At Borçelik, the HSE Perfect Project implemented based on behaviour-based safety management system prevents work accidents rooted in unsafe behaviour, while On Numara Reflex Measurement measures employees' response to non-compliance with scenarios previously prepared from a workplace safety perspective. This way, the habit of exhibiting safe behaviour is instilled. At Borusan Cat, proactive occupational health and safety management is provided through the Cat Inspect System with job-specific pre-risk assessment forms aimed at identifying hazards before work begins, defining risks across various platforms and taking necessary measures. At Borusan EnBW Enerji, a successful Occupational Health and Safety Culture Development Program has been running for three years. Through the internationally recognized Hudson&Parker measurement system and the Occupational Health and Safety Culture Development Program, progress in occupational health and safety perception is ensured across the company and measured as SMART targets. Within this program, through the Dynamic Risk Assessment application, employees continuously identify new risks to feed the risk system and build a safety culture with their own hands. Through the Occupational Health and Safety Target Catalogue application, employees better understand the safety aspects of each task they perform, learn from one another and develop according to their needs. Occupational health and safety performance is tracked under two headings: reactive and proactive performance. Reactive performance describes accident frequency rates, while proactive performance enables all teams to relate to this data and understand their own impact. Borusan Port addresses occupational health and safety comprehensively, providing employees with a safer working environment through Borusan Port SafeCard, which was implemented using IoT technologies last year. At Borusan Logistics, to transform Occupational Health and Safety Culture into behaviour, a Behaviour-Based Safety program tracks dangerous behaviour tendencies among employees through instant feedback and weekly meetings.
