Ball Receives ASI Sustainability Certification

Ball receives ASI sustainability certification for aerosol, household and personal care aluminum packaging and slug manufacturing facilities. The audit scope covered Ball Aerosol Packaging at nine global production facilities as well as regional centers located in Westminster, Colorado and Lille, France. Ball Corporation (NYSE: BALL), a leading firm in sustainable aluminum packaging, announced that its Global Aerosol Packaging division has received certification from the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) for Performance and Chain of Custody Standards. Ball's Aerosol division offers diverse, infinitely recyclable innovative aluminum packaging solutions in personal care, household and beverage packaging categories. These include a range of impact-extruded single and multi-use aluminum containers as well as innovative aerosol cans with primary aluminum content produced using low-carbon energy sources. ASI, which aims to drive sustainability throughout the entire aluminum value chain, certifies a company's commitment to social, environmental and ethical standards. The Performance Standard is a measure of how much effort a company invests in assessing, managing and disclosing its environmental, social and governance impacts. The Chain of Custody Standard sets requirements for establishing a transparent and traceable supply chain covering all areas from mining, casting, rolling, tinplate manufacturing, remelting and filling. The ASI audit covered nine of Ball's aerosol packaging and slug production facilities worldwide. These include Velim in the Czech Republic, Bellegarde and Copal in France, Devizes in the United Kingdom, Ahmedabad in India, Verona in the United States, Sherbrooke in Canada, Itupeva in Brazil and San Luis Potosi in Mexico, as well as regional centers in Westminster, Colorado and Lille, France. Obtaining ASI certification is a way for companies to demonstrate that they comply with increasingly stringent sustainability protocols. These include the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, which was expected to be implemented by the European Union in the first half of 2023. The ASI announcement aligns with Ball's 2030 sustainability targets that include sourcing all aluminum from certified sustainable sources and a commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions before 2050 and transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2030.
