Akcoat raises awareness on occupational health and safety

Akcoat raised awareness during Occupational Health and Safety Week, celebrated between 4-10 May, by organizing various training programs and events. Akcoat organized various events during Occupational Health and Safety Week, celebrated between 4-10 May, aimed at raising awareness among its employees and the public on occupational health and safety. In the first days of the week, Akcoat invited employees' children to the factory and shared important information on occupational health and safety with future generations. Children were informed about the importance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and its proper use. Within the scope of the special event, children designed their own hard hats using their imagination. Akcoat met with university students Akcoat participated in the TOSH OHS Symposium held on 4 May, followed recent developments in the sector, shared its experience and acquired new knowledge. On 8 May, Akcoat met with 2nd-year students of Sakarya University Ferizli Vocational School of Occupational Health and Safety, conveying its occupational health and safety practices and field work to students, thus contributing to strengthening theoretical knowledge with practical applications. The aim was to create a safe working environment Special training programs and events were also organized for workers at the Akcoat factory. The level of knowledge among employees was increased through OHS Rubik competition, quiz contests, work-at-height training, energy isolation and environmental education. Through these events, the occupational health and safety culture was reinforced with the aim of creating a safe working environment. Akcoat General Manager Burç Yıldırım made remarks. Yıldırım conveyed that in line with respect for people and sustainable development objectives, they fulfill their responsibilities toward employees and the environment, and shared that they achieved significant accomplishments in the field of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) in 2023. "We aim to complete a year of zero work-related accidents" Emphasizing that they achieved an 80 percent improvement in accident severity rate and reduction in lost days compared to the previous year, Yıldırım stated: "In 2024, by adopting 'Behaviour-Based Occupational Safety Culture', we aim to complete a year of zero work-related accidents. To reach this target, every employee of ours is adopting behaviors in line with OHS principles and we are making intensive efforts to maintain a safe working environment. Celebrating Occupational Health and Safety Week with future generations, the guarantee of our future, as well as with our employees, holds great importance for us."
