Şişecam held Şişecam Global Supplier Summit themed "Accelerating Change Through Collaboration"
Şişecam, a major player in the glass and chemicals sector, brought together business partners at the Şişecam Global Supplier Summit it organized. In his opening remarks at the summit, Şişecam Board Chairman and Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kırman called for collaboration in the industry for a better world. Prof. Dr. Kırman stated: "The global glass industry, which plays an important role in humanity's development and has reached a market volume of USD 250 billion today, must work with collective wisdom and collaboration to achieve carbon neutrality and sustainability targets."
Şişecam focusing on technology and sustainability
In his remarks, Şişecam Chief Executive Officer Görkem Elverici outlined Şişecam's transformation journey and the company's new projects aimed at transforming the industry. Elverici said, "Alongside our deep-rooted history, we are undergoing a transformation process focused on technology and sustainability. Our company, strengthened by strategic steps such as digitalization and One Şişecam, is working on a business model that will contribute our 89 years of accumulated knowledge to industry development. With our 'Plant of the Future' business model, we aim to transform the industry. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to optimize costs through cutting-edge technology, starting from the vision and design phases, and to continuously improve all production processes."
Plant of the Future business model will reduce energy consumption
Elverici highlighted that this new business model will play a significant role in reducing energy consumption, stating: "The glass industry is energy-intensive. Therefore, high levels of energy consumption occur in production processes. Our new business model, Plant of the Future, will both reduce energy consumption and develop environmentally friendly production models through cutting-edge technology applications and alternative energy capabilities. Through renewable energy projects we have adapted to our business model, we aim to reduce carbon emissions resulting from glass production. We view this as an important opportunity for sustainability in our industry."
