One of the most significant factors damaging structures is water. Water penetrating buildings causes deterioration and cracking of concrete in load-bearing sections, as well as corrosion of the reinforcement within the reinforced concrete, reducing its load-bearing capacity.

Water is one of the most significant factors causing damage to structures. Water penetrating our buildings leads to deterioration and cracking of concrete in the load-bearing parts of the structure, and causes reinforcement inside reinforced concrete to rust, reducing their load-carrying capacity.
Our structures are exposed to water from external sources such as rain, snow, soil moisture, and groundwater in the soil where the building is constructed, as well as from internal sources in wet areas. For this reason, polyurea waterproofing material is a next-generation technology.

Polyurea Ground Application and Application Areas

Polyurea is a chemical formed as a result of the reaction of a resin composed of two main chemicals: component A isocyanate and component B amine and its derivatives. It is a two-component surface coating material, high-performance, fast-curing waterproofing and coating material with very high chemical resistance that can be applied to various surfaces in any desired thickness. Polyurea has two types: aliphatic and aromatic. Most polyureas used in the market are aromatic polyurea. Different applications of polyureas are successfully carried out using high-pressure spray machines.   The expected performance of these machines is to reach 180-200 bar pressures and 70-80 degree temperatures. It is resistant to biogenic sulfuric acid and hydrogen sulfite. Solvent-free, with high crack-bridging capability. Elongation at break is 400%. Tensile strength and tear resistance are excellent. It cures in several seconds. It shows load-bearing strength within one hour. Application can be performed over a wide temperature range. Excellent adhesion to concrete and metal surfaces, high hydrolytic resistance and aging properties are excellent. It is tear-resistant and polyurea material can be applied as a single coat. Contact with drinking water is suitable and provides high density and impermeability, is VOC-free, resistant to acidic, salt and alkaline environments, and is a durable membrane and surface coating material with impact and abrasion resistance. Polyurea surface coatings are generally applied for protection of concrete and steel surfaces against corrosion and wear. In addition to its waterproof properties, it has many chemical and physical characteristics. The main application areas include: terraced roofs, irrigation channels, ground coatings, parking lots, foundations, pools, expansion joints, water tanks, vehicle body coatings, over polyurethane foam insulation, bridge decks, bathrooms and wet areas, industrial floor coatings, and can be easily applied in any area quickly and without unnecessary displacement. When polyurea ground coating and polyurea waterproofing systems are compared with conventional systems, the decisive characteristics are: stronger adhesion properties with 100% adhesion, greater flexibility of 250% and above and high tear resistance, resistance to pesticides and roots, rapid application capability (750 m² to 1,000 m² per day), very fast curing (3-8 seconds), and the ability to open application areas for use in as little as 50-60 minutes. Spray polyurea applied by spraying without seams provides excellent results through its crack-bridging capability in solving complex details such as expansion joints, stack bottoms, recesses and protrusions.

Pre-Application Preparation

The surface to be coated must be completely dry. Application cannot be done on damp or wet surfaces under any circumstances. Moisture content should not exceed 5%. For damp surfaces, a moisture barrier primer should be preferred. If there is dust, dirt, or substances that would prevent adhesion on the surface, the relevant area must be cleaned mechanically or chemically before application.
