Kraton Expands Renewable SBC Capacity Kraton Corporation, a leading sustainable producer of specialty polymers and bio-based products, has announced an expansion of its production capacity at its Berre, France facility to manufacture up to 100% ISCC PLUS certified renewable Styrenic Block Copolymers (SBC) as part of the CirKular+™ ReNew Series using a mass balance approach. The CirKular+ ReNew Series, produced in Berre, achieves a reduction of up to 85% in cradle-to-gate carbon footprint (including biogenic carbon) compared to fossil-based products. This significant development strengthens Kraton's commitment to the circular economy and provides customers with environmentally friendly, cutting-edge solutions. The International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) is an independent multi-stakeholder initiative and leading certification system. ISCC uses a mass balance approach that tracks the amount of recycled or bio-based raw materials in the supply chain and determines the quantity attributed to a specific end product based on verifiable record-keeping. This strategy enables businesses and customers to quantify the sustainability requirements of materials and products. The CirKular+ ReNew Series consists of ISCC PLUS certified renewable polymers and further expands Kraton's existing solution portfolio designed to advance the circular economy. In 2022, Kraton successfully produced CirKular+ ReNew Series SBC at its Berre facility using certified renewable butadiene to provide up to 70% ISCC PLUS certified content. With the recently expanded capacity, the ReNew Series can now offer up to 100% certified renewable content, including certified renewable styrene, and continues to enable customers to use the mass balance approach to produce renewable products.
