Kordsa Raises Score in Carbon Transparency Project Climate Change Report

KORDSA, an affiliate of Sabancı Holding, raised its rating from C- to B in the 2019 reporting period of the Carbon Disclosure Project, a civil society organization that mediates public companies' reporting to investors on how they manage climate change-related risks. In the 2019 reporting period when the global and European average was C, KORDSA entered the ranks of pioneering companies in managing climate change-related risks with above-average performance. KORDSA, an affiliate of Sabancı Holding, continues to create sustainable value for the Turkish economy by producing environmentally friendly technologies in line with its vision of building a sustainable future. As a result of its efforts to manage climate change-related risks and opportunities, KORDSA improved its rating by three levels in the Carbon Disclosure Project's 2019 reporting period—from C-, the first and lower level of the Awareness stage, to B, the second and highest level of the Management stage. The Carbon Disclosure Project is the only independent organization globally reporting companies' carbon-related market risk. In the 2019 reporting period when the global and European average was C, KORDSA entered the ranks of pioneering companies in managing climate change-related risks with above-average performance. KORDSA, which published its fifth sustainability report last year, included diagrams on value chains and sustainability impacts of its tire reinforcement and composite technology business lines in its 2018 Sustainability Report, a departure from previous years. As a result of its efforts to produce lighter and more durable tire and composite materials with less energy and materials, KORDSA reached 670 patent applications and 183 inventions as of the end of 2018. The global reinforcement leader achieved approximately USD 1.82 million in savings by reusing about 3 million bobbins through its recycling initiatives. It realized environmental investments worth USD 790,000 through emissions management, waste management and training programs.
