Kordsa Global Enters Into a Collaboration

Kordsa, a global player in the tire and construction reinforcement, as well as composite technologies market, has launched a collaboration with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) at the University of Sheffield. The company has earned the title of "Reinforcer" due to its innovative approach that shapes the sector. Kordsa, which has been investing in composite technologies over the past several years, expects the new collaboration to make a significant contribution to its growth along the composite journey that began with the opening of the Centre of Excellence in Composite Technologies. The Centre of Excellence in Composite Technologies, established in 2016 as a technology hub for the development of advanced composite material technologies through collaboration between Kordsa and Sabancı University, began operations that year. Combining the advanced manufacturing technologies of the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with its expertise in composite materials, Kordsa aims to develop new advanced composite technologies and become one of the leading players among aerospace and automotive sector operators in the United Kingdom. The University of Sheffield, Kordsa and Sabancı University met at the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre to sign a memorandum of understanding for the collaboration they have initiated in the field of advanced composite technologies. Through this agreement, it was also decided to establish academic collaboration between Sabancı University and the University of Sheffield.

In line with our mission to strengthen lives, we are investing to add value to the future through our innovations, redesigning and reshaping the sectors in which we operate. This partnership with the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre will also support us in creating a new ecosystem. As we develop new advanced materials in the field of composite technologies, we also expect new investment opportunities to emerge in the United Kingdom," he said. Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre Chief Executive Officer Colin Sirett: "Kordsa was very impressed by our technological capabilities and expertise. They saw parallels with the technologies they are planning to develop or are already developing. That is why I think this partnership is a perfect match," he said. Çalışkan: "Our centre located in Istanbul Technopark operates in an area of 5,000 m². The centre has capabilities such as material and mechanical characterization testing, additive manufacturing, polymer synthesis and advanced composite production methods, including autoclave and automatic fiber placement techniques. Established to produce the technology of the future while meeting international aviation standards and serving as the sole production and testing centre in Turkey, the centre functions as an innovation hub," he said.
