Kimpur's 2022 Integrated Report Kimpur, a leading polyurethane sector company with 40 years of experience, has released its 2022 Integrated Report. Taking its sustainability reporting journey one step forward, the company has addressed all its functions and impacts on stakeholders in an integrated manner in this year's published integrated report, sharing details of its sustainability initiatives alongside outputs from 2022 operations and future targets. Kimpur, Turkey's 100 percent domestically-owned polyurethane systems manufacturer, has released its 2022 Integrated Report, bringing fresh perspective to its sustainability reporting published since 2020. Prepared in compliance with the Integrated Reporting criteria of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC), the third report in which the company shares its progress and targets in sustainability has taken on the character of an "Integrated Report." Aligning its operations and targets with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Kimpur transparently presents its performance in economic, social, environmental and governance areas to stakeholders. The report, which addresses the company's 2022 activities and future targets through an integrated assessment and prepared using the GRI Standards 'Core' option, covers the period from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2022.

Kimpur increases total assets to TRY 4.6 billion

  Having completed a successful period under regular planning and systematic business process management, Kimpur increased its total assets to TRY 4.6 billion as of 2022. In addition to being Turkey's polyurethane systems house with the largest production capacity and sales volume, Kimpur became the first systems house to go public on 28 April with a sale valued at TRY 957 million and a 27.15 percent equity stake. Exporting to more than 50 countries, Kimpur, along with its Gebze facility in Turkey and its operations in Latvia, aims to become one of the top 10 polyurethane systems houses with the largest capacity in the world by reaching production capacity exceeding 200,000 tonnes as its Düzce plant, which had its foundation laid in May 2022, comes into operation.

Leading steps towards a sustainable future

Bringing its solar power plant installed at the Gebze facility on stream, Kimpur thereby achieves electricity cost savings and sources approximately 20 percent of the energy required for production from renewable sources, targeting the prevention of approximately 250-300 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Within the scope of its adopted sustainable business model, Kimpur focuses on improvements in the product life cycle and contributes to nature and the circular economy by incorporating renewable sources into its production. The company uses graphene obtained from the recycling of automotive tire waste in its production alongside its PET Bottle Waste to Polyester Polyol Synthesis and Commercial Use in Polyurethane Systems project, successfully enhancing the performance of its KIMflex Acoustic Insulation System used for sound insulation in automotive applications. Enhancing the performance of KIMflex HR Foam Systems with graphene, Kimpur has also added bio-based polyols with high functionality to its product range, which command high demand in the sustainable and global market. Using raw materials obtained with high-functionality bio-based polyols in sandwich panel, refrigerator and cold room panel formulations, the company continues to contribute to nature and will continue producing sustainable solutions for its customers' product life cycles. As a signatory to the Responsible Care® Global Charter, Kimpur targets expanding its contributions to the United Nations Global Compact in 2023 and beyond.

Our goal is to be among the first companies that come to mind in R&D

Continuing to produce custom solutions for customers through R&D investments since its founding, Kimpur pursues its work without slowing down at the R&D Centre certified by the Ministry of Industry and Technology since May 2017, creating a sustainable future through projects that benefit the environment and society in all areas of its operations. Noting that among their primary targets is being among the first companies that come to mind in R&D, Kimpur CEO Cavidan Karaca stated: "While producing custom solutions for our customers through our technology and R&D investments, we qualified to receive the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certificate this year thanks to our environment-focused activities that we implement. With this, we now hold 9 certifications within the scope of operational excellence, another area where we have made a commitment to continue our successful work. While developing our targets at our R&D Centre, we made investments in 3 new pieces of equipment in this regard."

To maintain women's employment rate

Adopting an approach to promote gender equality among all employees and raise awareness, support women throughout their careers, increase the rate of women employed, achieve gender equality in leadership and increase women's role in decision-making mechanisms, Kimpur derives 40.3 percent of its white-collar workforce from women. The company targets maintaining its women employee rate, which is above the Turkish average. The report includes activities conducted within the institution as well as collaborations with various associations, institutions and universities conducted in line with local community needs in the area where it operates. Kimpur's polyurethane systems are used in the footwear, automotive, furniture, insulation-construction and heating-cooling sectors.
