Kimpur Wins Two Awards at the Chemistry R&D Project Market

Two Awards for Kimpur from the Chemistry R&D Project Market Kimpur won two awards at the Chemistry R&D Project Market Award Ceremony, held for the 11th time this year. In the Plastics and Rubber Category of the competition, the project 'Performance Enhancement of Commercial Polyurethane Acoustic Insulation Systems with Waste-Derived Graphene' received first prize, while the project 'Development and Recycling of Bio-based Polyurethane Gel System' received third prize. The awards were presented to Kimpur's R&D team by Adil Pelister, Chairman of the Board of İKMİB (İKMİB), and Cemil Çakar, Member of the Extended Board. Kimpur, which has continued to produce customized solutions for customers through R&D investments since its founding and has been registered as an R&D Centre by the Ministry of Industry and Technology since May 2017, was deemed worthy of two awards at the Chemistry R&D Project Market Award Ceremony, the largest innovation event in the chemical sector, organized since 2011.  

First prize in the Plastics and Rubber Category

Kimpur, which uses graphene obtained from recycling automotive tire waste by Nanografen to increase the performance of acoustic insulation systems in automotive applications, won first prize in the Plastics and Rubber Category at the Chemistry R&D Project Market Award Ceremony for its project 'Performance Enhancement of Commercial Polyurethane Acoustic Insulation Systems with Waste-Derived Graphene'. The graphene-based acoustic insulation system resulting from Kimpur's work, which offers tailor-made extraordinary solutions to customers through new product and system designs, provides improvements of up to 65% in sound absorption compared to standard systems. The polyurethane foams obtained with this system succeed in improving acoustic insulation performance with virtually no impact on the vehicle's total weight thanks to their lightness.  

Sustainable gel system from Kimpur

Kimpur, which has succeeded in obtaining a sustainable product by using bio-based raw materials in polyurethane gel system production in line with its R&D studies, also received third prize in the same category with its project 'Development and Recycling of Bio-based Polyurethane Gel System'. The polyurethane gels awarded third prize at the R&D Project Market Award Ceremony can be used in impact-absorbing insoles, bicycle saddles, helmets, protective equipment and mouse pads, as well as in thermal comfort applications on pillow and mattress surfaces for medical products and devices. Kimpur, whose polyurethane systems are used in the footwear, automotive, furniture, insulation-construction and heating-cooling sectors, will continue its innovative and industry-leading R&D activities without slowing down.
