Huntsman Opens New Terol Polyol Plant in Taiwan

Huntsman Corporation (NYSE: HUN) officially inaugurated a new 22,000-tonne TEROL® aromatic polyester polyol facility at its Kuan Yin plant in Taiwan, with an opening ceremony attended by key customers on site. The 3,600 square-metre polyol facility, completed in May, expands Huntsman's polyurethane production capacity in the Asia-Pacific region and marks the first time TEROL® polyols are being produced outside the United States. TEROL® polyester polyols are critical components in the production of MDI-based polyurethane insulation systems and are the most effective insulators on the market as measured by R-value. Insulation products based on TEROL® polyols include polyisocyanurate (PIR) board stocking systems, spray polyurethane foam (SPF) and in-situ applications in entrance doors, garage doors, coolers, refrigerators and commercial freezers. Huntsman utilises a proprietary process that recycles waste polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles to produce TEROL® polyols, preventing these materials from ending up in landfills, rivers and oceans.
