Huntsman EMEA Chemical Systems Makes Significant Move

Important Move from Huntsman EMA Kimya Sistemleri EMA Kimya Sistemleri, a Huntsman entity operating in Istanbul, has completed the reconstruction of its polyurethane systems production facility. The facility, with an installed polyurethane systems production capacity exceeding 150,000 tonnes, will operate to world standards through its commitment to occupational health and safety, environmentally responsible practices contributing to a sustainable economy, and digitalization of its technology through artificial intelligence. EMA Kimyasal Sistemleri, which commenced operations as a Huntsman entity in 2012, has completed the reconstruction of its polyurethane facility in Istanbul. The new facility will recycle hundreds of millions of PET bottles annually to produce Huntsman's proprietary TEROL® polyol technology, enabling the company to increase its contribution to the circular economy as a sustainable investment. The new facility will also house a world-class R&D center alongside an application and training center for Huntsman Building Solutions, a global leader in polyurethane spray foam insulation.

Facility to operate to world standards

Huntsman EMA's Istanbul Project is the result of a philosophy encompassing occupational health and safety, environmentally responsible practices contributing to a sustainable economy, and complete digitalization of technology through artificial intelligence. The newly constructed, first-class facility has production capacity for polyester polyols, blends, MDI prepolymers, spray foam, and polyurethane. The facility's R&D center is among the select few polyurethane R&D centers operating worldwide. With an installed system production capacity exceeding 150,000 tonnes, the facility will supply products to major sectors including construction, refrigeration, footwear, furniture, automotive, healthcare, paints, and adhesives, with capabilities and flexibility to produce various rigid, flexible and elastomer PU systems including rigid, footwear, automotive, flex and elastomer grades. Additionally, the facility features dedicated certified flammable and refrigerated storage areas, maintains accessible commercial capacities on-site, and places special emphasis on minimizing chemical inventory on-site to reduce field risk.
