New Material Shaping the Future: "Composite"

Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO) Board Chairman İbrahim Burkay stated that they aim to establish two separate centers of excellence in nanotechnology and micromechanics and microelectronics to enable the automotive supply industry to transition to next-generation technology. Burkay said, "When establishing BUTEKOM, our greatest aspiration was to transform the sectors that sustain the economy of Bursa and Turkey—primarily automotive, machinery, metal processing, textiles, apparel and chemicals—into new technological and industrial fields representing the next generation and the future, starting with aerospace and aviation, from rail systems to defense industry." Noting that the center is one of the most important tools in the transition of Bursa's industry, production and exports particularly to mid-high and advanced technology, Burkay stated that within BUTEKOM they have subsequently established the Advanced Composite Materials Research and Center of Excellence, where composite materials—referred to as "new materials"—will be processed, which will shape the next 50 years primarily in the automotive sector as well as in machinery, chemicals, aviation and defense industries.
