Evonik Expands Nanjing Plant for Specialty Amine Production

Evonik's facility expansion aligns with the company's strategy to further diversify its product portfolio.
Evonik held a groundbreaking ceremony in Nanjing, attended by government delegates, to formally commence facility expansion work for specialty amines. Amines play a significant role in polyurethane production and chemistry. Amines, particularly amine-based catalysts, are typically used to accelerate or control the reaction between isocyanates and polyols.
This development underscores Evonik's commitment to growth in the polyurethane and epoxy curing agent markets. The expansion of the existing production facility strengthens Evonik's presence in China, a critical region for the company's global operations.
The expansion, which enables Evonik to develop its amine portfolio through access to cost-effective raw materials, represents a strategic investment in the double-digit million euro range. By increasing production in China, Evonik is strengthening its competitive position and optimizing its manufacturing network to enhance market efficiency. This step, supporting future market growth, is viewed as part of Evonik's global amine strategy, which will enable further diversification of its product range.
