Dow Receives Eighth ISCC PLUS Certification
Dow Achieves Eighth ISCC PLUS Certification for Polyurethane Plants in Europe
Dow announced that its polyurethane facilities in Europe have obtained the eighth International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification.
As Dow continues to produce materials with circular and bio-circular feedstocks, ISCC's independent certification process qualifies the tracking of alternative feedstocks through a mass balance approach. Marcel Moeller, Global Sustainability Director for Dow Polyurethanes, Chlor-Alkali and Vinyl (CAV) and Propylene Oxide/Propylene Glycol (PO/PG), said: "The ISCC PLUS certification represents further progress toward more circular products for polyurethane end markets and helps our customers develop verifiable circular or bio-circular solutions without any risk of quality loss. Our ability to meet the demanding requirements of this independent process reflects Dow's strong commitment to transitioning toward lower-carbon and more sustainable production and products."
As part of its accelerated sustainability journey, Dow continues to implement the use of alternative feedstocks through a mass balance approach. Independent, external verification is a critical component of the chain-of-custody methodology that lies at the heart of this approach. Through verifiable record-keeping and without changing the production process, it is possible to track and attribute the flow of sustainable materials across complex value chains.
ISCC is a leading international certification standard globally for fully traceable and environmentally, socially and economically sustainable supply chains.
To date, eight facilities processing materials for polyurethanes at six Dow plants in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands have obtained this highly respected third-party qualification. Solutions derived from more sustainable feedstocks will be used across a wide range of end-use applications including automotive, construction, household appliances and sports surfaces.
With each successful result, Dow is advancing toward its goal of obtaining approval for all polyurethane, chlor-alkali vinyl, propylene oxide and propylene glycol facilities in Europe and other global regions.
