Cygnet Texkimp Launches New Solution to Boost Efficiency in Carbon Fiber Production

Cygnet Texkimp has unveiled its new 500-kilogram-capacity VHD creel system, developed to improve efficiency in carbon fiber production processes. The new solution aims to reduce operational costs by enabling longer uninterrupted run times when feeding PAN precursor fiber bobbins into production lines.

Cygnet Texkimp has introduced a new 500-kilogram capacity VHD creel system developed to increase efficiency in carbon fibre production processes. The new solution aims to contribute to reducing operational costs by providing longer uninterrupted operating periods in the transfer of PAN precursor fibre bobbins to production lines.

The system, developed for carbon fibre and composite part manufacturers, reduces bobbin changeover frequency while increasing production line continuity, offering significant advantages to facilities with high-volume production.

Developed for large-scale production
Cygnet Texkimp notes that over 70 VHD creel systems are in use worldwide and more than 24,000 fibre bobbins are processed with these systems, aiming to respond to increasing capacity needs in carbon fibre production with its next-generation solution.

The 500-kilogram capacity system creates longer production cycles particularly in high-volume carbon fibre facilities, while also reducing downtime from maintenance and bobbin changes.

Design suitable for high tow count carbon fibres
The key technical features of the new system include:

-Higher line efficiency compared to traditional 350-kilogram bobbins,
-Infrastructure suitable for processing carbon fibres with high tow (filament) counts such as 24k and 48k,
-Constant fibre tension throughout production thanks to a closed-loop electronic tension control system,
-Safe and ergonomic bobbin changeover via operator-controlled elevator loading system,
-Capability to be integrated into fully automated systems if required.

Responding to carbon fibre production growth
Cygnet Texkimp Project Director Peter Stevenson stated that they are closely monitoring growth in global carbon fibre production capacity, and that the new system has been developed in line with sector needs.

Stevenson noted that facilities with high-volume production and countries aiming to develop their domestic carbon fibre production capabilities require this technology, adding that the developed solution is expected to make significant contributions to new investments in the global market.
