Chromatic 3D Materials Expands 3D Printer Range for Polyurethanes with RX-Flow™ 2500
3D printing materials and technology provider Chromatic 3D Materials has expanded its RX-Flow™ printer range for printing thermoset polyurethane parts with the addition of the RX-Flow™ 2500. The new printer features a more compact work area of 348 x 543 x 194 mm (13.7" x 21.4" x 7.63"), while maintaining the cost efficiency, speed and quality output of larger RX-Flow™ models.
The RX-Flow™ 2500 is suited for manufacturers seeking to print durable, flexible parts at low cost by eliminating tooling and minimizing waste. This compact unit fits nicely into an affordable printer range for printing standard industrial polyurethane parts as well as multi-material parts, overmolded parts and parts printed directly onto fabric, metal and other substrates.
It is also often more cost-effective and faster than tooling for small and medium-volume production runs or prototypes. Additionally, the printer technology minimizes material waste, providing some customers with material cost savings of up to 90% compared to conventional manufacturing technologies.
With the RX-Flow™ 2500, manufacturers can also accelerate time to market by rapidly iterating new designs and printing finished parts in various sizes and specifications. The unit achieves print speeds of 5,100 mm per minute along the X and Y axes and 3,000 mm per minute along the Z axis.
It can print polyurethane parts at a rate of 1 part per 10 seconds depending on shape and size. For example, the company printed over 300 O-rings within one hour for a leading component supplier to the HVAC and refrigeration industry. The RX-Flow™ 2500 is designed to print high-quality thermoset polyurethanes for industrial and consumer applications requiring durability and flexibility.
Like other RX-Flow™ printers, this unit works with Chromatic's printable polyurethanes with Shore A hardness ranging from 50-90. These materials offer the same three-dimensional strength and compression set as injection-molded parts.
