BUTEXCOMP Signs Off on a Landmark Project

BUTEXCOMP Signs on to Flagship Green Project BUTEXCOMP, the Composite Materials and Technical Textiles Prototype Production and Application Centre, one of Turkey's most important technology transformation projects run by the Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTSO), has launched an exemplary initiative in the green transition area. BUTEXCOMP will provide support to SMEs in the technical textiles and composites sectors based in Bursa for developing new products and processes aligned with the European Green Deal. To this end, call documents for the 'Green Product Grant Programme for SMEs' have been published on the www.butexcomp.org portal. The Composite Materials and Technical Textiles Prototype Production and Application Centre Technical Support Project is being implemented within the framework of the Competitive Sectors Programme, financed through financial cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. In line with the European Green Deal, the 'Green Product Grant Programme for SMEs' was launched on 15 November to support network formation in the value chain of the technical textiles and composite materials sectors and to introduce new green products. Potential applicants will be informed about the call at a seminar to be held on 23 November, Wednesday, at Bursa Almira Hotel, where experts will give presentations.

Five Different Green Product Programmes to be Supported

The Green Product Grant Programme was designed to enable companies in the technical textiles and composites sectors based in Bursa to develop new green/environmentally-friendly/environmentally-conscious products with reduced environmental impact, by utilizing BUTEXCOMP centre infrastructure and its expert personnel and advanced facilities, and to bring new green products from the region to market. As a result of consulting services provided to selected SMEs, a minimum of 5 different new green product programmes will be supported. The programme aims to reduce input costs for selected SMEs, increase commercialisation volumes and export potential, and support network formation in the technical textiles and composite value chain.

Applications can be submitted by completing the application form online at www.butexcomp.org until the call closing date. The 'Guide for Applicants' document also serves as guidance for the application process. Applications will continue to be accepted until 30 December 2022 at 23:59. Applications will be evaluated by experts in January 2023 and supported projects will be determined. Supported projects will then be announced in February 2023 and grant agreements will be signed. Projects will be actively supported during the March 2023–December 2023 period. Companies can send their questions about the call to [email protected] with company information and name details.  

What is the Competitive Sectors Programme?

The Competitive Sectors Programme, conducted by the Ministry of Industry and Technology within the framework of financial cooperation between the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, is a financial aid programme supporting projects with a budget of approximately EUR 800 million. The programme, running since 2007, aims at social and economic development by increasing the competitiveness of manufacturers, SMEs and entrepreneurs in different regions of Turkey.
