BASF Launches Running Shoe Sole Made with Expanded Thermoplastic Polyurethane

Chinese sports and fitness brand Keep has launched the K2 treadmill made with BASF's Infinergy expanded thermoplastic polyurethane (E-TPU) on its running deck. The material's superior elasticity, shock absorption and high rebound properties were noted to provide a unique experience for indoor runners on the running platform. According to BASF, Infinergy absorbs and returns energy in the treadmill that minimizes impact on joints while running. Additionally, its robust damping properties deliver a quieter running experience for consumers, allowing runners living in apartments to exercise at any time of day without disturbing neighbors. Liu Dong, Vice President of Keep, stated: "Our aim is to be the best-in-class indoor fitness provider; therefore, we continuously work with our material supplier BASF to develop our smart treadmills. With Infinergy, we go beyond the limitations of traditional treadmills, unlocking a new era of indoor exercise and empowering runners to perform better at home or in the gym.
