Base Materials Launches New Mold Materials
New Tooling Board Materials from Base Materials
Base Materials has added three new products to its polyurethane (PU) tooling board materials series. All of the tooling materials in question are produced at the company's facility in Leicester, United Kingdom.
The expansion of Base Materials' product range includes the addition of BP600, a medium-density PU tooling material, and two new high-density PU tooling materials designed for wear resistance, BP1200 and BP1700.
John Miller, General Manager of Base Materials, stated: "The expansion of our industry-leading PU tooling board materials range demonstrates our long-standing commitment to continuing to meet our customers' demands. With increasing demand for more specialized materials, particularly wear-resistant solutions, we have rapidly developed and launched BP1200 and BP1700. BP600, designed for use in a wide range of applications, enhances our existing medium-density materials portfolio."
BP600 is a tooling material that is easy to machine, provides good surface quality, and has a low coefficient of thermal expansion to enhance dimensional stability. Master models and molds are suitable for use in a variety of applications including vacuum forming, thermoforming, automotive modeling, foundry molds and plates, decorative arts and crafts, and film and theater sets.
BP1700 PU tooling material is designed for use in specialized applications requiring high pressure resistance, including vacuum forming, thermoforming, hammer and metal forming, casting molds, and reactive injection molding (RIM). It is resistant to wear and has a high density of 1,785 kg/m³.
BP1200 is a high-density, wear-resistant PU tooling material that is easy to machine and designed for use in a wide range of applications. These applications include vacuum forming and heat forming for the production of food and beverage packaging as well as casting molds and mold plates, shoe lasts, automotive modeling, and more.
