Tüpraş Joins BiZeolCat Horizon 2020 Project

BiZeolCat (Bifunctional Zeolite Based Catalysts And Innovative Process for Sustainable Hydrocarbon Transformation), which will be implemented with the participation of 13 organizations from 9 different countries, one of which is Tüpraş as a partner, has been awarded funding under the "Industrial Sustainability" call of Horizon2020, Europe's most important research and innovation programme. The project aims to develop innovative processes and technologies for more efficient production of valuable petrochemical feedstock such as propylene, butadiene and benzene. In this way, petrochemical production processes are expected to achieve lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to existing technologies, reduced energy consumption and lower investment costs. Tüpraş, aiming to support making the oil industry more sustainable by contributing to the project, will assume an important role in catalyst development activities within the project. Tüpraş will also conduct pilot-scale performance testing of the methods to be developed within the project scope using the reactor systems located in its R&D laboratory. With 100 per cent funding from the European Union, the budget allocated to Tüpraş within the project scope is EUR 440,000, while the total budget of the project is EUR 6,570,000. The project, implemented in partnership with organizations from Turkey, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, France, Slovenia, Sweden, Belgium and Italy, commenced on 1 January 2019, and is scheduled to last 4 years and be completed on 1 January 2023.
