SOCAR Türkiye and Sabancı University Collaboration
SOCAR Türkiye R&D and Innovation Center focuses on hydrogen (H2)-based technologies important for renewable energy through collaboration with Sabancı University.
SOCAR Türkiye, one of Turkey's leading industrial holdings, has accelerated its work on hydrogen (H2)-based technologies that are of major importance for renewable energy.
In this context, SOCAR Türkiye R&D and Innovation Center, which began collaboration with Sabancı University in November 2022, launched an R&D project titled 'Development of Novel Anode for H2 Production with Bipolar Membrane Electrolyzers'.
According to statements made, the project teams of the company and university aim to develop novel electrodes containing next-generation doped catalysts for green hydrogen production from water. Additionally, the project seeks to reduce electrolyzer costs, improve efficiency, and extend service life.
In line with the EU's goals to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and minimize carbon footprint by 2050, clean energy production technologies are needed. Hydrogen (H2) is viewed as the most promising fuel for this purpose. The collaborative work between the company and university aims to contribute in this field.
