SOCAR Türkiye Becomes Export Champion in the Chemical Sector
SOCAR Türkiye was announced as Turkey's export champion in the 2019 Stars of Exports ranking, organized by the Istanbul Chemical Substances and Products Exporters Association (İKMİB).
In a statement from the company, it was reported that the İKMİB 2019 Stars of Exports awards ceremony, held for the fifth time this year, was conducted digitally for the first time due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and that Commerce Minister Ruhsar Pekcan, Turkish Exporters Council (TİM) Chairman İsmail Gülle and İKMİB Chairman Adil Pelister attended the ceremony.
In the statement confirming SOCAR Türkiye's status as export champion in the overall ranking, it was noted that "in the 'Mineral Fuels' category, SOCAR Distribution took first place and STAR Refinery took second place."
The statement also included remarks from Rıza Bozoklar, Deputy Chairman of SOCAR Türkiye Refinery and Petrochemicals Business Unit, at the awards ceremony.
Bozoklar, speaking on behalf of SOCAR Türkiye, Turkey's largest foreign direct investor, expressed satisfaction with receiving the awards and made the following assessment: "As Turkey's largest direct foreign investor, in 2019 our affiliates Petkim, STAR Refinery and SOCAR Distribution contributed to the Turkish economy through total exports exceeding USD 3 billion, and we are continuing this contribution uninterrupted despite the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire world. Our primary objective is to continue this contribution in the coming years. On this occasion, I express our gratitude to our Ministry of Commerce, which rewarded the success of our companies, and to the İKMİB management." AAAdvertisement
