Shell Türkiye and Organik Kimya Provide Disinfectant Support to Public Institutions
The COVID-19 pandemic affecting the entire world rapidly increased demand for disinfectant products. Shell Turkey and Organik Kimya have established an important cooperation to address this need. With 127,000 litres of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) supplied by Shell Global Chemicals for Turkey, Shell Turkey and Organik Kimya will donate 175,000 litres of disinfectant to help meet the demand created in our country.
In a statement, Shell Turkey and Organik Kimya emphasized that their primary priorities in combating the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic are to protect the health and safety of their employees, customers and the public.
As the process of fighting the pandemic progressed, they anticipated that disinfectant use would become much more intensive, particularly with the steps taken towards normalization. Shell Turkey and Organik Kimya took action to meet the disinfectant needs of healthcare personnel and other public institutions at the forefront of this process.
Within this scope, approximately 175,000 litres of disinfectant will be produced using the 127,000 litres of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) raw material donated by Shell. All logistics activities will be undertaken and distribution will take place within May.
The disinfectant to be produced will be transferred to 5-litre containers and donated by Shell Turkey and Organik Kimya to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey and relevant public institutions.
Recalling that they provided fuel support to the Ministry of Health in March to support the intense nationwide effort, Shell Turkey Country President Ahmet Erdem said, "Additionally, during this period when hand disinfectant demand has increased, we have taken action through cooperation with Organik Kimya to meet this demand in Turkey. We especially thank everyone who has contributed to this fight and Organik Kimya, with whom we cooperated in our hand disinfectant support." Erdem concluded his remarks by saying, "We are pleased to contribute to this effort and solidarity being carried out with outstanding efforts through our fuel and chemical products as Shell. We believe that our country will overcome these difficult times in unity and solidarity." Expressing great satisfaction at being able to support the successful process conducted in the health sector from the beginning in our country's fight against COVID-19, Organik Kimya CEO Simone Kaslowski said, "Through the Organik Kimya – Shell Turkey cooperation, we have implemented a disinfectant production project to contribute to this meaningful effort to be donated to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. The fact that the disinfectants we are producing will especially protect our healthcare workers is a separate source of pride for us. We will continue to protect our employees and their health, fulfil our social responsibilities and serve our community. As a nation, we will overcome this challenging period through mutual aid and solidarity."Advertisement
