Petrol Ofisi Continues Steady Growth In 2021, a year marked by challenging conditions, Petrol Ofisi continued to achieve successes across many areas and maintained its steady growth trajectory. Increasing sales to 6,775,442 tonnes in 2021 and capturing a market share of 23.09%, Petrol Ofisi strengthened and maintained its traditional leadership position in Turkey's fuel sector. Petrol Ofisi Chief Executive Officer Selim Şiper stated: "As one of Turkey's most important institutions and sector leader, we will not stop no matter the circumstances. The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) released its Oil Market 2021 Sector Report. According to the 'Comparison of Total Domestic Sales in 2020 and 2021' table in the report, the market size that stood at 26,372,287 tonnes in 2020 grew 11.29% in 2021 to reach 29,349,759 tonnes.

Strengthened traditional leadership with 23.09% market share

According to data in the 'Domestic Sales Volumes by License Holders' table in the report, Petrol Ofisi improved its total sales volume from 6,223,951 tonnes in 2020 to reach 6,775,442 tonnes in 2021. Reaching a 23.09% market share in 2021, Petrol Ofisi maintained its traditional leadership position in Turkey's fuel sector.     History Under the National Protection Act dated 18 February 1941, Petroleum Limited Company was transferred to Petrol Ofisi and was established with a capital of 2.5 million lira to play a regulatory role in petroleum marketing in Turkey. Talha Sabuncu, Petrol Ofisi's first general manager, decided to use the female wolf, one of the fundamental figures in Turkish mythology, in the institution's logo. Talha Bey had a talent for such work; he drew a wolf with a curved tongue visible between its teeth, placed it within a red circle, and thus was born the logo of one of Turkey's largest institutions. The first mineral oil factory was established in 1953 in Derince as a Mineral Oil Blending Facility. By agreement signed on 22 October 1966, Petrol Ofisi began supplying fuel to Turkish Airlines aircraft starting 1 January 1967. Air fueling service commenced operations in 1967, providing fuel supply to aircraft of state airports, particularly THY, and national institutions such as MTA and the Directorate General of Land Registry and Cadastre.
