Encina Receives ISCC PLUS Certification

Circular chemicals producer Encina Development Group has announced that it has obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS designation for circular monomers derived from post-consumer and waste plastics. ISCC is a leading, internationally recognized third-party certification system. Through voluntary demonstration, companies and their customers know that claimed sustainability attributes, such as recycled content percentages, are reliably verified. This system applies to the entire supply chain and many bio-based raw materials and renewable energy types, and is based on a framework with verifiable accounting and predefined transparency requirements. Encina uses proprietary advanced recycling technology that operates at the molecular level, in contrast to conventional mechanical recycling. In this technology, polymer chains are broken down and then converted into original chemical building blocks that can be reused to make new products. Encina's projects include planned facilities in the United States as well as projects in Asia and South America.
