Aramco and TotalEnergies to Build Major Petrochemical Complex

Aramco and TotalEnergies Award Contracts for Major Petrochemical Complex Aramco and TotalEnergies have signed Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts for the "Amiral" complex, an 11 billion dollar project encompassing construction of a petrochemical facility at the SATORP refinery in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. A signing ceremony was held in Zahran with the attendance of Aramco President and CEO Amin H. Nasser and TotalEnergies President and CEO Patrick Pouyanné. The signing of EPC contracts for the main process units and associated facilities marks the start of construction work on the joint petrochemical expansion following the final investment decision in December 2022. The new complex, integrated with the existing SATORP refinery in Al Jubail, will house one of the largest mixed-feed steam crackers in the Gulf, with capacity to produce 1,650 kilotons of ethylene and other industrial gases annually. The expansion is expected to attract more than 4 billion dollars in additional investment across various industrial sectors including carbon fibers, mineral oils, drilling fluids, detergents, food additives, automotive parts and tyres. The facility is also expected to create 7,000 direct and indirect local employment opportunities. Aramco President and CEO Amin H.
